Who is behind QLC?

Hi! I’m May.

I am 25 and feel totally unsure about what I want to do with my life. People tell me that is exactly how I am supposed to feel at this age. I am not going to just wait around for my calling to call me back, so I built The Quarter Life Compass instead.

This platform is my method of asking as many people as possible personal questions about their mission in life, the journey they are on, the path they took to get where they are, and all the other things I want to know about their experience as a human person.

I definitely don’t have an answer to this question, but I know some people who’s insight might help me (and you) figure it out!

What is QLC?

I started this blog because I was looking for a resource that felt honest about what it actually looks like to be in your mid-twenties right now, navigating a world that hands you a diploma and then immediately asks you to have a plan.

I needed insight from real people and I couldn’t find what I wanted online. I wanted a platform to hear from real people about their real jobs, what they hated/loved about it, and how they got there.

My Quarter Life Crisis became The Quarter Life Compass, a platform built for people navigating their 20s and early adulthood.

I didn’t create this because I think I am someone who has it figured out, because I still don’t. QLC is intended as a collection of experiences in the form of a public journal compiled for people who are also in this murky middle era of life.

The Quarter Life Compass will publish a quarterly newsletter and a bi-weekly journal entry and will feature the experiences of people in as many professions and phases of life as I can possible get to agree to a conversation.

I know teachers, baristas, software engineers, CEOs, small business owners, writers, pilots, legislators, and florists; the list goes on and on.

I’m sure you know interesting people too, and I hope that you will connect them to the QLC community so we can also learn from their stories.
